Carver College | Training To Transform

Athletic Director

Coach Martin Carter Martin Carter, Sr., begins his 17th season as Athletic Director for the Men’s Basketball team at Carver College.  He has led the Cougars for 15 of those seasons in NCCAA play.  Last year Carver introduced our first Women’s Basketball team coached by himself.  They offically begin play in the 2015 - 2016 season in the NCCAA. His goal for young men and women that he mentors through the platform of sports far exceeds the on the court experience.  He has graduated 30 players.   Some have entered top graduate programs and others serve the Lord from a variety of platforms including sports, mission field, the pastorate, politics and the business world.  He and his wife Rita reside in Fayetteville, Georgia and have three adult children and two grand children.  He also serves as a Deacon at The Olivet Church.

Men's Basketball Coach

Coach Jimmy DinaldiSeasoned coach Bryan K. Spencer will embark on a new chapter in his coaching career with his appointment as the 2017-18 Head Men’s basketball coach at Carver College.

Coach Spencer is no stranger to Carver College, having served as an assistant coach under Martin Carter Sr. from 2009-2013, and returning last year in the same capacity.  Spencer has an affinity to Carver College for its unique passion and desire to build a nationally competitive basketball program while, just as importantly, building strong men of character who represent the body of Christ.  Spencer, who is the son and grandson of preachers, says, “Carver gives me the opportunity to minister to young men through the game of basketball.”

Coach Spencer believes everyone has a place that is uniquely designed just for them, and he believes Carver is that place for him.  “I can be myself here without worrying about someone complaining, because I quoted some scripture from the Bible.  I feel free to be me,” he says.

Over the entirety of his career, Coach Spencer has coached, trained, and mentored several players who went on to have stellar interscholastic and collegiate careers, and some currently playing professionally.  He wants student-athletes and their parents, high school coaches and athletic directors, and all of sports media to know that Carver College is a viable option for student-athletes to receive an education and pursue athletics as a career, if they so desire.

Coach Spencer’s favorite quote, which he tries to live by, is from Jackie Robinson: “A life is only as important as the impact it has on other people’s lives.”

Women's Basketball Coach

Coach Jimmy DinaldiCoach Jimmy Danladi is a man after God’s heart and is originally from Nigeria, West Africa. Although this is his first season as a Head coach at the collegiate level, basketball is no stranger to him. He served as Assistant basketball coach last season with Carver College Men’s basketball team and prior to that, he was the graduate assistant to the Athletic Director and the team Statistician. Coach Danladi brings vast knowledge and experience in coaching and playing basketball. His core belief system stands on the principles of God, family, education and basketball.  He is a firm believer in the Lord and acknowledges the Lord as being the Head of his life, family, and career. His resounding message is centered on godly values and academic excellence. Coach Danladi will always tell the athletes, “You are a child of God first, then a student, and lastly, an athlete,” in that order.

As Coach Danladi leads his team this year, he is excited about the opportunity for spiritual development as well. Starting each practice with a short Bible study, he wants to see the level of faith in each of the players increase. The goal is to exhibit a spirit of excellence in all areas of their lives, using basketball as the vehicle to get the there. Keeping that attitude forefront in mind, Coach Danladi believes doors will open and opportunities will be provided, it’s not just about the sport, but the total character of each individual athlete.

Coach Danladi is looking forward to the Lady Cougars having a great season.  He expects great success not only on the court, but also off the court as the team works to touch the lives of God’s people through prayer and community outreach.

Proverbs 3:5-6 is the key to making it happen, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” Coach Danladi believes that the students of Carver College are His workmanship and as he coaches the team, Coach Danladi will depend on the Lord for everything.
